Green Python

beautiful to the eye, this snake inhabits the far north of Australia (rare) and New Guinea (more plentiful) . up to 2 metres in length, highly sought after overseas as pets

baby kangaroo (called a "joey") peers at me from her mother's pouch

dingo

about 20 inches high and 4ft long sometimes captured by Aborigines and kept as hunting companions

Emu
2nd largest bird (after Ostrich)
flightless, grows up to 6ft high, & 130lbs, often seen on open plains and in outback

found on the East Coast of Australia, from Tasmania to Queensland

Platypus

duck-like bill, mammal,
lays eggs in burrow built in river bank,
about 18 inches (45cm) long
