Photographs of Highway 1, California

San Francisco to Los Angeles via the Coast Road; Highway 1

One of the best road trips in the US, the coast route from San Francisco to Los Angeles
includes great sights like surfers near the Ventura County Line, rocky shorelines home to Leopard Seals, Elephant Seals and  California Sea Otters
This road  can often be fogged in for most of the day, giving rise to beautiful photo opportunities of the desert cliffs running down to the ocean.

Do not expect to cover the 450 miles quickly as travelling along Highway 1 can be slow,
due to the many tourists using the road who are unfamiliar with the area.

If you think you are going to be cool and stand out by renting a Mustang or Harley Davidson motorcycle to do the trip, think again.
You will be one of hundreds who choose to do this every week.

This journey is best enjoyed in a comfortable vehicle;  as the highway was in poor condition in some places.
